HEROES Screencaps

About this trail:
Unlike the HEROES trail, which is supposed to be more informative about HEROES, this trail is for screencaps to show some trivial details or help with HEROES speculations. For instance, we don't quite know who SYLAR is yet or what is his motivation, but we do know how to spell SYLAR* (the name on the tape came out a little dark). But that may not mean much since you can't be 100% certain that Simone's last name is Deveaux (the most recent correct spelling), because even on the NBC website, they use both spellings for her name, Deveaux and Deveraux! Anyway, the "symbol" shown in this compilation looks like this: This compilation is of most of the instances of the "symbol" (or what I had erroneously called the space between the CTAGs) that are mostly from Isaac's paintings (with other instances in other images to follow). If you look at the code that was shown on Mohinder's monitor (from information on the flash drive that Eden found), you'll see that the shape is made from the plus signs that I non-technically thought were placeholders to fill the space between the CTAGs (where c, t, a, and g are the dna bases). Some bigger, though still blurry versions of the code are here or here. The following images are the screencaps with the symbols labeled to provide an unofficial count. Labeled Screenshots of the symbol (part 1): Labeled Screenshots of the symbol (part 2): The shape or symbol represented by plus signs in the code looks like it could indicate that the supposedly proper composition of dna bases to fully map the human genomes (which really has been completed), or the sequence of dna bases of those with the potential to have extraordinary abilities, is found when all of the placeholders make that particular shape.** Other instances of the space between the CTAGs are on the 9thWonders comic (it looks to be a logo in the story for Helix comics, and here's a comparison of Hiro in the comic and actual scene), and what Peter drew of him walking on air. And there's one cap of the Bank of America sign in New York (as the camera spins around Hiro) that looks like it's supposed to look like the symbol, which I had to piece it together. And this is a version of the symbol from an episode 6 promo. This next image shows the last pages of the comic that Hiro is looking at, and the information about what is on the page (that I could discern) follows: Last panel of the comic has what looks like a Nissan Versa heading to Las Vegas on 15 North (but I could be wrong about the highway number), and the bubble says "We're on our own from here on out..." To be continued... And purely unsubstantiated speculation follows: *I think SYLAR is an acronym for something like SYnergized Lifeform After Radiation, Synergized Youth Lifeform After Radiation, or maybe Subject Y Lives After Radiation... That was the first thing I thought when I saw this screencap earlier. Most of the time this is irrelevant, as it is rare that these events also coincide with a gene (genes make up a small percentage of the human genome, it's mostly repetitive sequences which may have no function or may be regulatory elements). So perhaps this sequence shows us that the Hero's have not mutated existing sequence but actually gained new sequence, and possibly new gene(s) that give them super powers. If so, this would be the key to identifying any Hero, whether their powers have come forth or not. Genome-wide DNA analysis is an everyday procedure in forensic and research labs. Update: Now it looks like the plus signs are actually minus signs, or dashes... I wonder if the "Deveaux Society" will be involved with dna testing?!? And do you think that Simone's last name of "Deveaux" was a "tip of the hat" to Nathaniel DeVeaux, who has been in quite a few sci-fi tv shows and movies, but he's never portrayed the character with any "super" powers?

Jimmy's character has some Jedi mind tricks! ) And here are other screencaps, mostly in order; just ones I thought were interesting (but most may not be important plot-wise): DL Skull ring Ando reading comic, showing a 9thWonders Hiro cover Excerpt of Hiro and Ando's conversation at Yamagato Industries Hiro's Nixon watch (more about "The Connect" watch here. Interesting- a tagline for HEROES is "Everything's connected"...) Peter floppin' Nathan's ties C. Suresh book spine and back cover segue from Petrelli office to Suresh apt. And other screencaps... For episode 4, these screencaps are mostly in chronological order, and some shots are labeled as either No Collision or Collision. A scene was labeled a Collision if, when two characters meet, they both choose to interact, or, if there is some sort of physical contact (though sometimes the actual contact isn't shown), and sometimes there might not be any choice in the matter. No Collision is given when one or both people do not, or do not want to, interact, if they have the choice. Continuity is added if there might be something to notice about the flow from one scene to another. Two portraits for C. Suresh, probably a casting decision (and wedding ring or not for Nathan?) Matt showing brain activity on monitor HRG and Haitian (as Jimmy Jean-Louis is credited) Haitian kissing symbol on pendant Niki, Micah, and Hiro (No Collision) Comparison of Isaac’s view of the city with painting on floor First hints of casino Hiro and Ando visit, with the monogram M in background MONTECI Mohinder and Nathan (No Collision) Nathan looking stern Guy saying They are everywhere Sh_nkar? Nathan and Simone (No Collision) Simone and Peter (Collision) C. Suresh apartment numbers (Continuity) Peter and Mohinder (Collision) Blurry logo of casino (with cameo of eonline's Kristin Veitch) Hiro helping Ando w/ roulette, part 1 (Continuity) Part of the casino name in lights Hiro helping Ando w/ roulette, part 2 Hiro saves drink (w/ Kristin frozen in bg) Hiro helping Ando w/ roulette, part 3 Hiro before and after helping Ando with poker (Continuity error or scripted?) Hiro made a full house Chips from the casino Niki placing ticket in glass Niki and Nathan (Collision) Mohinder and Peter on train (Continuity error or scripted?) Peter’s quick left arm, part 1 (Continuity) Peter’s quick left arm, part 2 (Continuity; the sequence is top to bottom, left side first) Isaac paints scene about Claire, part 1 Isaac paints scene about Claire, part 2 (Continuity) Isaac with white eyes Friendly Hiro Small caps of casino sign- and surprise! It's the Montecito! Larger pic of casino sign 'nother sighting of the Montecito logo Hiro and Fist (Collision) Niki and Ikin (sequence is left to right, top first) Symbol on Ikin Mohinder and Peter on train and time stops (sign behind them: Don't give your heart to just anyone) Isaac sees painting of Claire Peter and locker doors near Claire painting Hiro and Ando at bloody Homecoming painting Claire painting segue to Claire Claire and Brody (Collision) Brody’s car and wall (Collision and Continuity) Haitian and HRG with Nathan (Collision) Hiro-ic attire (Have you seen Rain Man? You might be reminded of it...) Co-stars Also, here is the profile shot for the supposed stand-in for Sylar: Original location of pic is here at the nbc gallery. Looks like the person has a stubby upturned nose (or maybe I see part of the background behind his nose). But can't tell much from the photo!

This was the map from the first NBC HEROES site. The notes might be able to help with speculating... Or not. Oh, that's fun. The swf file is resized pretty small! Huh. Try this instead.

I thought I'd give a screencap showing the end of this episode to start it all off... Just curious, but have you figured out if the title of Episode 5 is plural, or possessive? There are fewer screencaps for this episode than in the past- sorry 'bout that; I kinda got sidetracked (more on that later). And the rest (most of these are less for speculations, and just interesting to me; I apologize if they aren't very helpful for ya): First excerpt of Hiro's and Ando's conversation at the Fly By Night diner (its name appears later) Second excerpt of Hiro's and Ando's conversation at FBN diner, minus the Star Wars reference Excerpt of Hiro's and Ando's conversation at FBN diner, with the Star Wars reference Hiro sees Nathan land (hard to show movement with stills, and the sequence is top to bottom, left side first) No Shoes, No Shirt, No... Stares? Nah, that's not it (some extras get some screen time) Greg Grunberg's character Matt gets to be like Mel Gibson's character in What Women Want (at least for Janice, his wife) Aren't they so cute? Shirt with restaurant name, Fly By Night diner Hiro meets another hero Hiro reveals the powers to Nathan- first Nathan's, then Hiro's (funny expressions by Adrian, imo) More facial expressions by Nathan when listening to Hiro (sequence is still top to bottom with the left two smaller shots first) Nathan asks Hiro about the future Hiro asks Nathan about getting a ride HRG visits Claire (but wait! Wasn't he just in Las Vegas?!?) Peter discovers Cheerleader painting at Isaac's apartment (possibly something to notice with the continuity, but is a little more apparent when watching the actual scene) Happy Hiro doesn't want to lose his button Is it a Super Petrelli campaign button? Taken out of context, the shot is kinda humorous. Just the Nissan Versa and random neon signs Nathan learns from Niki that Linderman might blackmail him Nathan retreats after the news (sequence is left to right, top first) Matt as the perfect husband Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis) seems to enjoy when he gets to clean out Brody's memories (note the slight smile, plus another glimpse of his symbol pendant) Peter notices that Isaac's paintings tell a story Peter sees that a painting is unfinished Peter sees what the painting would look like complete Mr. Stick-figure artist (Peter) starts to paint (and gains some white contacts) First glimpse of D.L. Hawkins (played by Leonard Roberts) (maybe a hand model is used?) Second glimpse of D.L., with Niki's (Ali's) hands shown (the nails looked clipped and I might just be seeing things, but got a screencap anyway) Visitor gets a warm reception (top to bottom, left first) It's Ando, not D.L. On Nathan’s Montecito bill, you can see some charges and his signature You can also see that he went to the Mystique Restaurant (which Delinda Deline, played by Molly Sims, runs on Las Vegas), as well as the Montecito Bar And Grill. Montecito sign and guards in suits in bg (random, huh?) Nathan is happy to deal with Ms. Sakamoto (maybe Mr. Linderman's right-hand lady?) Matt skipped a meal (that's why he's got something in his mouth; just looked like a funny shot) Matt does his impression of Johnny Carson's Carnac to deter a robbery and then passes out (not shown in screenshot) from an overload of everyone's thoughts? (potential robber played by Mike Foy, I think) Ando meets Las Vegas Niki, who cannot help him Does the reflected light outside mean Niki has a pool? (you can see it better in a video) Niki seems to be looking for D.L. The painting that Peter and Isaac see reveals who the guy in the shadows may have killed (NOTE: Although it is paint, those who may get squeamish or do not want to see a representation of a dead body [like Isaac's in the second episode] should not click the link) About that last painting, in August, Jesse Alexander asked who was in the following picture: And then he also asked what was this person's favorite food? If you decide the silhouette of a person wearing a cap is this guy, who was supposedly the stand-in for Paul E. Sylar, since the part had not been cast before the third episode aired (although imdb already shows the guy whose first and last names that don't rhyme, Sean Bean, credited as the super-powered serial killer, fwiw), then does that mean Jesse is hinting at/confirming ideas that Sylar likes to eat... BRAINS?!? Also, here are some shots from the opening scenes of Hiros with either the symbol or a new 'do': Hiro of the Future with Symbol on Sword Future Hiro has a ponytail Haitian with Symbol pendant about to mess with Nathan Did ya notice a lack of screencaps from the opening sequence? Well, like I said in the beginning, sorta got sidetracked... And the reason why I got sidetracked was because I noticed that sometimes motion and/or sound doesn't always translate well to still images. So if you bear with me since I'm new to this, I attempted instead to make some clips. Never done that before... One of the problems I've noticed so far is that, with ie (internet explorer), the swf files have to download completely before the clips play, so you may have to wait until the video goodness starts. A second problem, as you may have noticed, is that if you do not have a way to view Flash 8 files, then you don't get to see the clips. Well, here are my first attempts at making HEROES swf clips. Hope these are clips that either you (a) wanted to watch again, (b) could appreciate, or (c) will not take credit for putting together in this form : Nathan's only way out is up (do you hear a voice saying something like Sorry just as Nathan starts running?!?) And in conclusion, how about the message that Hiro of the Future wants to share?

In the current Yahoo TV previews for episode 6 of HEROES, Isaac tells Peter that a painting has been given to Simone which could be the missing puzzle piece to learn more about the Cheerleader. The missing piece is supposed to fit in the upper left corner of this arrangement of the paintings. It looks like the painting is a little wider space-wise, but I think it fits the description otherwise. This screencap was in the 2nd mark of this trail, and I think this is the missing clue, since it tells that the cheerleader is a Wildcat. HRG (with his associate Eden) just has to fill in the details... What do you think?

Just had to get the sparse screencaps that I took from the iTunes download of the premiere that was available at the beginning of September. You see this picture, of maybe a girl with pom-poms in front of her, at the beginning of the scene in Isaac's apartment, before he starts to paint over the painting of a guy's hand holding a glass of what looks like boiling water. Anyway, this is another speculative idea of the missing puzzle piece mentioned in episode 6 to find out who the Cheerleader is, if we the audience have actually seen the painting that Isaac is talking about. More about that in the next mark... The rest of the pics here are things I noticed while watching the iTunes download, plus a .gif banner used before the premiere: Hiro with Uluru screensaver Micah with 9thWonders comic featuring Uluru I first thought the guy with glasses with a Thermian smile (Galaxy Quest) in Nathan's and Peter's scene was a trailing HRG (but it wasn't) The last scene from the iTunes download that differed from the pilot HEROES banner

In episode 6, Peter arranges the paintings as if they are panels in a comic book, and Isaac says one panel, that would fit in the upper left and tell more about the Cheerleader, was given to Simone. I was thinking that the following screencap from episode 3, One Giant Leap, shows one painting, that, although it is wider than the square-shaped space, would give Isaac and Peter more clues about the Cheerleader: If Peter and Isaac see the Claire and Zach painting with the Wildcats banner in the background, they can at least try to eliminate a few schools by their mascots. (What is interesting, though, is the painting of Claire walking through fire on the HEROES promo comic, which you can also see in this desktop wallpaper. Her uniform says Trojans, so it must not be part of the HEROES canon?) Or if HRG or his sly associate happens to see or hear about that Wildcats banner, he may be able to put it all together, whether or not he tells Isaac and/or Peter... On the other hand, (OTOH), some people say that it doesn't fit the space, and it was painted and already fulfilled before the current scenes which they say should all fit together like a story, and others say the picture does not have to be one we've seen, and both are valid points. But who (besides the writers) says that Peter arranged the paintings in the correct manner? Oh well; I just like it when the audience is given the same clues as the protagonists. It's all up to TPTB... So who thinks Jackie will be Sylar's target because she claimed to be the rescuer in the train wreck, which puts her in danger? Here are the other screencaps from Better Halves: 2 new paintings; one of Jessica Greg Beeman has a blog and you can learn more about Niki and Jessica in his entry for episode 6. Wonder what that new painting is about? Different point of view when Hiro calls I like that it isn't a total replay of the same scene. Ando relays Peter's message to Hiro It cheers Hiro up a little bit! More glimpses of new painting Cupcakes frosted with dog hair? Do Pomeranians shed much? Yummy! Niki behind the screen door looks like comic print Pictures of a younger Micah Glimpse of D.L.'s pendant; not much to see Just capped for the fun of it Is this King Chory? I have a screencap of the neon sign with that Choryname here. The hills of Odessa You can kinda see 'em. Quick product placement Hiro's message to Ando as possible foreshadowing? It seems Ando will play an active part in key future events. Why Hiro of the Future visited Peter, and not Hiro and Ando Claire about to meet her bio parents Parallels and transitions between shots of D.L. and Niki, part 1 Shots like these showing parallel or opposite actions of different characters had been shown in previous episodes, but I decided to capture these. Parallels and transitions between shots of D.L. and Niki, part 2 Ando's and Hiro's experience with the high rollers, part 1 (Continuity) Ando's and Hiro's experience with the high rollers, part 2 (Possible continuity error with Ando holding beer) Ando's and Hiro's experience with the high rollers, part 3 (Continuity) Ando's and Hiro's experience with the high rollers, part 4 (Sequence is left to right, top first) Ando's and Hiro's experience with the high rollers, part 5 (Continuity; dealer had dealt the card, so hand was already extended before the unfreeze, and why did Ando look over his right shoulder?) Hiro falls after Ando sees his cards Jessica breaks the bathroom door, among other things (not shown) Hiro needs a do-over Niki, D.L., and Jessica, part 1 Eden will not say bye, why? What's she up to? D.L. looks at Micah's comics, part 1 Niki does have a pool! Previous night scenes where you could see reflected light on the walls made it look like she did. D.L. looks at Micah's comics, part 2 (Continuity error with position of comic in stack) Another 9thWonders comic! And it seems D.L. is a good dad. Niki wears fuzzy slippers Claire and her parents Just a compilation of the different characters with maybe a glimpse of one person's thoughts. Open sesame? No, Open says D.L. King Chory Lounge sign (kinda blurry)That's where the poker game was! You see it right before you see what Jessica did (not shown). Eden phone home Horn-rimmed glasses (Continuity) Was the other pair busted because of Nathan? D.L. pendant might have a cross on it Maybe, maybe not; might not even matter. Niki gets backpack, sees Jessica, and the next thing she knows, she took off her long sleeve shirt and is on the couch Niki and Jessica (sort of a Willem Serkis moment for Larter) As in Green Goblin and Gollum Niki and Jessica transition where they share an eye Kinda neat how they lined that one up. Ando says HEROES are on a journey Had fun catching images where two sets of dialogue were on-screen at the same time. Ando cheers Hiro up with possible plot hints Some more obvious foreshadowing. Claire learns she had a cough, and maybe gets that gift on counter Couldn't really capture that scene, but the stills were right after she learned some info from her mom. What's that wrapped gift? Niki finds the case with a gun and $2,000,000 In the attic all along. Niki, D.L., and Jessica, part 2 Fun little transition. NOTE: For the next 6 screencaps, minus the one of a possible D.L. stunt double and Jessica's symbol, scenes of comic book or Buffy the Vampire Slayer type of violence is shown. So use your judgment/discretion before clicking on the links. And, though it's unlikely that you can take a hit or phase like D.L., don't try to reenact the scenes: In comic book fashion, Jessica smacks D.L. with the case, part 1 In comic book fashion, Jessica smacks D.L. with the case, part 2 Shots of D.L. phasing to get Jessica, part 1 Maybe shots of the D.L. stunt double Jessica has the symbol Shots of D.L. phasing to get Jessica, part 2 Jessica collapses on floor, segue to Jessica painting Isaac finds symbol on Jessica painting A larger version in the form of an episode promo is here. Eden says hi to Isaac That's why she won't say bye! Episode 6 costars

I like the title of The Repairman that Noah added to his drawing for the HEROES Auction! I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate that Micah's awesome power is that he can heal others of their infirmities. Then it won't matter too much if any of the HEROES, like, let's say, his mom, appears dead! Or in the case of Matt or Brody, he can help them regain their memories. Micah'll just fix 'em right up and they'll be right as rain! It's been done before, obviously, as a super power, but it doesn't mean TPTB couldn't have one of the HEROES who could heal... It may end up that he's a technical whiz-kid, or maybe an all-around genius capable of accessing and controlling his fully-wired/connected brain and all possible mental functions, or even have other powers, but I think it would be great if The Repairman meant that, instead of fixing just inanimate objects or equipment, he was able to heal people! Or maybe he can just set the time on his grandma's vcr... What do you think?
1. You are such the rock stat! I really like the show but LOVE what you do with these trails ... this makes the show for me! Thank you. PS -- more please

3. There is a lot more to this show than the TV ads would lead you to. Now that I'm caught up I think I'll tune in for the rest of the season. Keep it up.
