About this trail:
If the Academy Awards inspired you to become a better actor, then this book is a great start. It is THE best book I have found, and almost every great actor has a worn-out copy on their bookshelf.

This is a great book for actors that are too busy to read a whole book cover to cover. Instead of having to sort through huge theories and everything, you just look up the topic you want to work on, and read quick notes about it. These are notes given by the director to people he's worked with, so you learn from their mistakes, and know you're in the same boat as someone else!

Monologues are the toughest part of auditioning. Finding a good monologue that fits you and the part is a difficult thing, and most monologue books are crap. This one is the most amazing monologue book ever. Every single monologue in it is amazing, and they're all from important contemporary American plays. I've used tons of these monologues for auditions, and they always go over very well.

If you're interested in Improvisation at all, then this is required reading. It's THE book on improv technique, and you'll sound super smart around all of your colleagues when you mention Keith Johnstone's Impro.
