About this trail:
1
We stayed in an apartment in this general neighborhood, and it was great, with everything we needed nearby or within an easy walk.

This place was near where we stayed, and provided breakfast a couple of mornings (and extras to take back to seattle). Living in seattle, just about any kind of vaguely authentic bagel is a treat, and these were good. Though frankly the lox was disappointingly pale and unsalty. I could get used to getting up in the morning and just walking over to the bagel place though.

This is supposed to be like the best NY pizza ever but it kinda sucked. Maybe the problem was that we got mushrooms on our pizza and they gave us oyster mushrooms. who the hell puts oyster mushrooms on pizza? gross. and even grosser to try and have the leftovers for breakfast. oyster mushrooms in the morning? super gross.

MOMA pretty much rules, like duh. The jeff wall exhibit was really interesting, though I personally had some problems with it. It led to some good art debates with E though, so that's good.
I have to say though that the new MOMA building is pretty much the star attraction for me. They've done unbelievable things with light in that building. I took lots of pictures last time I was there.

Pomodoro seems to be a favorite among the branch of my family in nyc -- I've been there with family on my last two trips. I'm not a big connoisseur of Italian, I admit, but everyone I know really likes it. I thought it was good.

See, I thought barneys was basically a lame overpriced boutique, since that's what it is in seattle, but it turns out it's a huge department store. We didn't have nearly as much time for shopping as we wanted, but I still managed to blow a lot of money in barneys co-op in a fairly short amount of time so that was nice.
Dear barneys, please bring a proper store to seattle, thank you.

We were looking for chinese in chinatown but ended up here on a recommendation (a kind of misguided one: "it has chinese and vietnamese" -- but it's really just vietnamese).
The summer rolls with pork were very good, with an interesting flavor and good wraps. The fried spring rolls were unusual and pretty good -- flavored meat, and with mint and lettuce for wrapping. Grilled pork skewers were underwhelming (but hey grilled meat is still grilled meat). We had the salt and pepper fried shrimp which was very good, with a flavorful sauce we couldn't quite identify (coriander?). La lot beef rolls with noodles and lettuce etc for wrapping were standard. The lemongrass chicken was okay but not memorable. Overall not bad but not someplace I'd go out of my way for.

Atrium cafe, decent greek place. We had lunch there. I had some chicken-in-phyllo thing that was pretty good. Nothing super memorable.

I didn't make it this trip but I've been there before and it rules. At least, if you can't get to tokyo.

This mac 'n' cheese place comes highly recommended, but we didn't end up getting there this trip.
