The name is derived from the process called quilting which is basically just tagging wool in between two layers of bedsheets or nice soft material to make it nicely thick and warm. Specially used in winters to keep one cozy, quilts have been used since long ago in history. They have been also used as decorations, for wall hangings and in artistic expressions. Globally quilts are available in various designs and patterns and fabrics depending on the region.

History has it that the origin of quilts and fabrics started from the far east from countries like India, Pakistan and China. V Kingsley - The quilt artist, mother and a writer. She is a multi-talented artist who allows her passionate love of life to shine through every thing she creates. She is a fiber artist whose humble beginnings with embroidery at the age of 8 lead her to honor design, texture and color. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emerson College tucked into her needle case, a decade-long run as a Properties Master in film, theater and television ultimately lead to the tiny stitches of antique quilt restoration. Currently, Ms. Kingsley lives among the redwoods south of San Francisco with her partner and their son where she takes commissions for fine art infused with meaning and memory.
