The Sci-Fi writers and George Jetson had it right after all. The era of personal air transportation is here. Air Taxis will soon be here. Air traffic jams, will, presumably follow. However, several players, big and small, have hopped on to this market with tremendous potential and are drawing, building or test flying futuristic car-planes. Check 'em out.

Lemelson - MIT prize winner Carl Dietrich and colleagues are creating a shapely dream for every person - a flying SUV! The transition will take two persons on a 100 - 500 mile trip on a single tank of gas. The aim is to have people fly it without a pilot's license, eventually. The prototype is getting ready and the makers hope to fly you to your dreams by 2009.

In twenty five years, the common person could have a fancy flying machine parked in the garage. From fantasy to reality the journey has not been easy, as the dream to fly took hold as soon as the car was invented, but recent technologic advances have advanced the realization by leaps and bounds.

Concept flying cars are being attempted all over the world these days. Apart from personal transportation, mass transit imaginative people are working out better and newer schemes for using these versatile options for rescue and other activities. These remain in the world of fantasy, until the things actually reach the road and the sky.
