The International quilt study center was established in 1997 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to encourage the interdisciplinary study of all aspects of quiltmaking and to foster preservation of this tradition. The IQSC's mission is to collect, preserve, study, exhibit, and promote discovery of quilts and quiltmaking traditions from many cultures, countries, and time periods.

The Museum of the American Quilter's Society (MAQS) is a non-profit charitable institution established to educate the local, national, and international public about the art, history, and heritage of quilt making, including the diversity of quilts and their makers.

The Names project foundation has added another feather to their cap by creating the Aids Memorial Quilt. The AIDS Memorial Quilt offers an unique opportunity to educate people about HIV/AIDS and infection prevention, to remember those who have died, and to comfort the grieving and help them heal. By showing the humanity behind the statistics, The Quilt encourages compassion and inspires personal involvement in combating the AIDS epidemic.

This Project has been supported with the help of Money from the European Regional Development Fund. The Quilt Association was formed in 1995 by a group of friends in order to raise funds to house the collection of antique Welsh quilts known as The Welsh Heritage Collection. To this end the Association has acquired the Minerva Centre in Llanidloes.
