I think that Trailfire could be very useful when high school students bengin conducting a college search. The choices and sites out there with information are overwelming and Trailfire could be used as a tool to keep track of where you have been and what you've thought. This trail will be an example of a search a student might conduct if they were looking for liberal arts schools in California.

While our example student may have chosen California as the state she wants to look for a school in, California is a big state and there is a huge range of options in regards to type of location. This page can help sort those options out.

CollegeBoard has a tool which takes your answers to a series of questions and generates a list of "matching" potential schools that they think you should consider in your search. This is a very helpful starting place and there are many other websites besides CollegeBoard.com that feature tools such as this.
