# Choose lean meats. Chicken and fish are both very low in fat (and certain fish like salmon, sardines, and fresh tuna are an excellent source of antioxidants which is also beneficial to your health), so aim to replace some or all of the beef or pork in your diet with these foods. # Replace high-calorie side dishes with healthier alternatives. Many people get a ton of calories from side dishes such as macaroni and cheese, french fries, or potato salad. You can eat healthier and lose weight by replacing these with vegetables and salads. Pre-made salads are practically effortless, and when accompanied by a reduced-calorie dressing or no dressing at all, they're weight-loss gold. # Start your days off right. A fattening breakfast of bacon and eggs or a pastry can be replaced with yogurt, oatmeal, high-fiber, low-sugar cereals; or fresh fruit or fruit smoothies.

# Consume healthy foods and do not skip meals. Eat six small meals a day, rather than eating large meals. Your blood sugar will be level, and you will not feel as hungry. # Eat at the table, not standing up. Take time to chew, count to 30 for each bite. You will find that you will get full faster, and will not have to eat as much. # When you snack, choose healthy fruits and vegetables rather than candy or chips. Popcorn, minus added salt or butter, is an excellent munchie. It is full of fiber, will fill you up, and tastes good. # Walk as much as you can. Try to walk at least one mile a day to start. Each day walk a little further. Walk at a brisk pace, and if you find you are getting out of breath then slow down. In the beginning it is more important that you at least walk, rather than walk fast. Walk the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Dance by yourself to the music on the television or your MP3 player. Any movements will make you lose weight, so have fun and dance your fat away. # Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. You do not have to drink them down all at once, but keep sipping all day. Do whatever is comfortable and convenient for you, as long as you drink that amount of water. This will help you feel more full. # Stop drinking soda. Even if it is diet soda, drink water instead. Even fruit juices can add weight, if you have too many of them each day. # Enlarge Weigh yourself once a week. Weigh at the same time every time and wear the same amount of clothes each time. Measure yourself the first time you start your diet. Write down the measurements and your weight in a book.
