There are a number of people who shut their computers down over the weekend. Our Full Software Inventory scan runs over the weekend. When these users come in on Monday morning the Software Inventory scan starts and slows the performance of their computers way down. Is there a way to suspend or minimize the performance hit of inventory for these users?

There are a couple of options for doing this with the second option being the most preferred.Option 1: In the registry of the client at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Altiris Agent is a registry key called "Delay at System Boot (secs)". Setting this for a value like 600 (decimal) would theorectically delay the startup of the Altiris Agent for 10 minutes preventing the inventory tasks from running.Option 2: Configure the "Slow mode delay (milliseconds)" in the AuditPls.ini. This will slow down the scan minimzing the performance hit on the computer during the software scan. See article 3674 for details on how to configure this.

I had the same problem, with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 computer from HP.
After installing Windows XP SP3 using the RELEASE version of SP3, my computer failed to boot with stop code 0x0000007E.
I was able to reboot in Safe mode. I tried removing some drivers (based on other Microsoft KBs) with no success. Then I found this thread.
Setting the value of Start to be 4 in the following key worked for me as well: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\intelppm
It's hard to believe this problem was found and documented in the release candidates, yet still exists in the actual release production version.

I use a very simple solution.
Notepad from MS is essential for the system, but sometimes i prefer Notepad2 for editing files.
So in XP exist an easy to use commandline-tool called FTYPE.
Now i use this tool to associate some filetypes with Notepad2.
Here my bat Script:

Getting into Usenet is easy.
Step 1: Do you have access to a Usenet server?
Some ISPs are dumping Usenet access because it's not worth the cost considering how few people use it. Other ISPs are outsourcing it to companies that specialize in it. Check your ISPs website to see if they have one and what it is. I'm on RoadRunner here and it's, surprisingly, fantastic at the moment. You're in Austin, right? If you're using RoadRunner, your news server is: news-server.austin.rr.com but only if you're on RR.
Step 2: Is it a decent server?
My RR server used to vary in quality. Some days nothing would come in complete, other times I'd have a couple days worth of complete posts. Recently, and this came as a big surprise, an entire month worth of posts are available. So if I pass on something now, I can still get it a couple weeks down the line if I change my mind, which is great. If the server you have access to doesn't come in complete, you're out of luck, unless you want to pay for access. For about the price of a Netflix subscription, you can get access to top notch servers.
Step 3: Download Xnews (see list above). There are other clients, but I like Xnews.
Step 4: Install and setup Xnews. Installing it is simple. Just extract it where ever you want it and run the executable. When you do that, I believe it asks for the news server address. Put that in. It then asks for an alias, just put in whatever you want. I think you'll end up at this. If it asks for an smtp/outgoing address, either put it in or put in whatever. It's only important if you plan on posting messages, and there's no sane dialogue on Usenet. At that screen in the link, you may want to go over to the storage tab and change it to 'save nothing'. Otherwise it stores headers you download, which ultimately ends up taking lots of space. The rest you can leave alone, unless you want to change font/colour or whatever else.
It then should ask if you want to get the group list, if you start seeing groups show up, you're now on Usenet.
Step 5: Find a group with content you want.
If it's movies you're looking for, alt.binaries.movies.divx is the place to start looking. If your server is carrying it, find it, double click it. You may get a screen like this.
The only thing you need to be concerned with is the 'Get:' number. It's the number of headers you'll be downloading. If your server is carrying a month's worth of posts, you do not want to download them all. It'll take forever and Xnews will probably end up freezing trying to sort them all after it gets them. You'll get the feel of how many you want after a while. If your server only carries a couple days worth, you'll probably just end up getting them all every time you check.
Step 6: Threading and Downloading
Okay, you've downloaded some header files. If you're sitting there with a bunch of gibberish with little notepad icons beside it, look down at the bottom for the 'T' button. It threads the multi-part files into one. You'll have to push that stupid 'T' button everytime you use that search box, which is stupid.
Everything should be threaded and you'll now have to learn how to read the message headers. Some times people won't tell you what the files are and you'll have to check the .nfo files.
There are three icons to the left of the file. The sort of teal block, which means it is complete. The blue incomplete block means the file is incomplete. And the notepad, which means it's a single-part message, possibly text. Note that most everything on usenet (except music, pictures, and text) are posted in rar format. This is done so that it's easy to reupload a single part if it doesn't show up complete, but these days we have par2 files to fix things. If something shows up incomplete, check to see if there are par2 files. If there are, download the incomplete file and enough par2 files to fix it with QuickPar.
If everything seems complete and you want something. Highlight it, and click the 'decode' block at the bottom (or hit f4). It should begin downloading the parts into the assigned folder.
Wired's How-To Wiki offers a timely compilation of ways to get into Usenet, that old-school newsgroup collection often teeming with downloads and advice, now that it looks like major ISPs will block access partially or entirely. Google Groups, for instance, will get you into a semi-mirrored version of Usenet without any of the sketchier alt groups included. For full-scale access, free tools like UsenetTools and DMoz are suggested, along with a few full-access tools with monthly subscriptions. Hidden Operating System
If your system partition or system drive is encrypted using TrueCrypt, you need to enter your pre-boot authentication password in the TrueCrypt Boot Loader screen after you turn on or restart your computer. It may happen that you are forced by somebody to decrypt the operating system or to reveal the pre-boot authentication password. There are many situations where you cannot refuse to do so (for example, due to extortion). TrueCrypt allows you to create a hidden operating system whose existence will be impossible to prove (provided that certain guidelines are followed — see below). Thus, you will not have to decrypt or reveal the password for the hidden operating system.
Before you continue reading this section, make sure you have read the section Hidden Volume and that you understand what a hidden TrueCrypt volume is.
A hidden operating system is a system (for example, Windows Vista or Windows XP) that is installed in a hidden TrueCrypt volume. It is impossible to prove that a hidden TrueCrypt volume exists (provided that certain guidelines are followed; for more information, see the section Hidden Volume) and, therefore, it is impossible to prove that a hidden operating system exists.
However, in order to boot a system encrypted by TrueCrypt, an unencrypted copy of the TrueCrypt Boot Loader has to be stored on the system drive or on a TrueCrypt Rescue Disk. Hence, the mere presence of the TrueCrypt Boot Loader can indicate that there is a system encrypted by TrueCrypt on the computer. Therefore, to provide a plausible explanation for the presence of the TrueCrypt Boot Loader, the TrueCrypt wizard creates a second encrypted operating system, so-called decoy operating system, during the process of creation of a hidden operating system. A decoy operating system must not contain any sensitive files. Its existence is not secret (it is not installed in a hidden volume). The password for the decoy operating system can be safely revealed to anyone forcing you to disclose your pre-boot authentication password.*
You should use the decoy operating system as frequently as you use your computer. Ideally, you should use it for all activities that do not involve sensitive data. Otherwise, plausible deniability of the hidden operating system might be adversely affected (if you revealed the password for the decoy operating system to an adversary, he could find out that the system is not used very often, which might indicate the existence of a hidden operating system on your computer). Note that you can save data to the decoy system partition anytime without any risk that the hidden volume will get damaged (because the decoy system is not installed in the outer volume — see below).
There will be two pre-boot authentication passwords — one for the hidden system and the other for the decoy system. If you want to start the hidden system, you simply enter the password for the hidden system in the TrueCrypt Boot Loader screen (which appears after you turn on or restart your computer). Likewise, if you want to start the decoy system (for example, when asked to do so by an adversary), you just enter the password for the decoy system in the TrueCrypt Boot Loader screen.
Nice tip this worked great. I was having a problem with the VMWare installation hanging during the installation of the Authorization service. Some folks may have a problem finding the swap file setting. Here is how I did it on my WinXP box:
Control Panel -> System ->Advanced -> Performance -> Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory [Change] ->System Managed Sized.

7) You should now have a file on your desktop that looks like Internet Explorer. Double Click and it should open up a browser with your SKYPE Banner.
Note: You should click on it to check it ‘tries’ to dial you.

Open Micosoft Outlook-->Tools-->Options-->Mail Format-->Signatures-->New-->Add your title-->(click) Use this file as a Template-->Browse-->Select ‘Look in Desktop’-->Select Your Signature File Named in (5) -->Select.

昨天晚上在朋友未改过的机器上测试了两个游戏（塞尔达黄昏公主和马里奥赛车）均获
得成功，以后会测试更多游戏，有结果就上来报告。
机器是美版3.1J，需自己准备的有塞尔达黄昏公主正版DVD一张（借来或租来1次只用于第1步安装homebrew channel即可，然后可以还了），SD卡一张（容量小于
2G，不能是SDHC，且有些SD卡可能用不了），DVD-R用于刻录游戏（DVD+R不能用。但据反映如果使用DVD+R的话，刻录时在刻录软件比如ImgBurn里将BookType设为DVD-ROM就可以了）。
1）安装homebrew channel。请参见http://bbs.wiibbs.com/read.php?tid=28704，需要下载的进度文件以及WAD Manager在wiibbs到处都是。
2）去这里http://rapidshare.com/files/146449970/wii_loader.rar.html下载Wii_Loader.rar，里面的CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad会在第3步中用到，而backup-creator会在第6步中用到。
3）利用WAD Manager安装CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad。这个安装成功后并不像WAD游戏

4）安装DVDX。从这里http://static.hackmii.com/dvdx.zip下载后改名为boot.dol，放在SD卡APPS下的DVDX目录下，进入homebrew运行DVDX安装。如果有卸载选项请先卸载，安装时选“ADVANCED”，按左或右键选择IOS249，然后安装。安装完后你也不会在WII channel看见有任何新东西出现，但如果你再运行DVDX时就会有卸载选项出现。
5）下载GeckoOS。我是从http://rapidshare.com/files/148759392/geckoos.dol.html下载的，还只是1.06g版的，看wiibbs已经更新到1.07b版本了。改名为boot.dol，放在SD卡APPS下的GeckoOS目录下。（据反映新的1.07b版本不好用，容易出现no disc现象，用我提供的1.06g版本就挺好）
6）将游戏ISO放入backup-creator的目录下，该目录下有一个common-key文件是需要的
。右键点击ISO，选择打开方式，找到backup-creator并选择，等个1-2分钟就会有一个
改过的partition.ISO文件生成。将partition.ISO刻录到DVD-R上。（据反映如果生成的partition.ISO容量小于4G的话，刻录出来的盘有较大可能无法运行。）
6）插入刻录好的DVD-R到WII中，进入homebrew运行GeckoOS，选择第一项“Launch
Game”，成功。
Waninkoko的那个所谓测试泄漏版ISO Loader不能用，运行后出现绿屏，GeckoOS用起来
很完美。没有什么变砖的危险，破解芯片可以都去死了。另外测试过AV线和色差线，两个都可以完美运行没问题。

今天又测试了8个游戏，下面7个可以玩：Mario Party 8, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Boom Blox, Super Paper Mario, Deca Sports, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz。
仅有1个Medal of Honor: Heroes 2不能玩，能看见那个最常见的WII Remote的提示说明画面，然后就不动了，手里的WII Remote的指示灯全灭了。怀疑是做backup-creator时有问题，因为那些可玩的游戏生成的ISO全是4.2G左右，而这个只生成了1.6G。所以如果在backup-creator时生成ISO时发现镜像太小，也许就会无法运行。
暂时我不会在测试更多游戏了，期待大家把各自的测试结果报告上来。
