GoogleSearchWiki: Backup.

Hello world back!

I just found that I can reedit the comment. I gave searcher a Helpful=Yes, because this helped to explore the GoogleSearchWiki for community use.

Observations:
 • There are RecentChanges, but not realtime.
 • Testing a WikiWord failed.
 • Html references and WikiWords are not yet served.
 • e.g. http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?GoogleSearchWiki.
 • There is no Wiki Formatting.
 • You cannot edit each others text.
WardCunningham is not pleased to call such a construction a wiki.

Dear Google developers, please improve this wikilike "GoogleSearchWiki".

Is it possible to make several comments on one search entry.  First I thought, this would be possible, by clicking the bubble; then I learned, that this overwrites the old comment. I wonder, how I managed to get two different comments here.

Some material of the original WikiDot Wiki for faster access and orientation:

If this is your first site

Then there are some things you need to know:

 • You can configure all security and other settings online, using the Site Manager. When you invite other people to help build this site they don't have access to the Site Manager unless you make them administrators like yourself. Check out the Permissions section.
 • Your Wikidot site has two menus, one at the side called 'nav:side', and one at the top called 'nav:top'. These are Wikidot pages, and you can edit them like any page.
 • To edit a page, go to the page and click the Edit button. You can change everything in the main area of your page. The Wikidot language is easy to learn but powerful.
 • You can attach images and other files to any page, then display them and link to them in the page.
 • Every Wikidot page has a history of edits, and you can undo anything. So feel secure, and experiment.
 • You can choose different themes in the Site Manager, and you can write your own theme if you know CSS.
 • To start a forum on your site, see the Site Manager » Forum.
 • The license for this Wikidot site has been set to Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License. If you want to change this, use the Site Manager.
 • If you want to learn more, make sure you visit the Documentation section at www.wikidot.com

If you've already created other sites

Then we don't need to tell you how addictive Wikidot is. But maybe it's worth reminding you of some of the advanced Wikidot features:

 • You can run your Wikidot site on its own web domain name.
 • You can use Google Analytics to measure traffic going to your site.
 • Giving away free wikis is not enough for us — we are also offering you a way to earn money from your wiki using our AdSense implementation.

We hope you enjoy using Wikidot as much as we do. If you want to discuss Wikidot, there's an active community of Wikidot enthusiasts where you can share tips and ideas.

WhoWeAre
Vision
People visit AboutUs before they go to a website because our clear, consistent guide saves them time in understanding the business.

Mission
To create a trustworthy guide that artfully summarizes every organization on the internet and rewards the reader in their first glance.

Values
We work together in a way that brings out the best in us and fosters a shared spirit of collaboration.  We encourage each contributor to learn and teach the many values that our community is built upon.

Purpose of this Document
This document describes the vision and mission we've chosen and the values that we want community members to consider while on the site.  We've condensed our myriad Values around a small core that we are building into our software and want to project into our community. This focus will help newcomers identify the important bits of AboutUs culture quickly and keep them close at hand.  We continue to celebrate and honor the individual contribution as the fundamental building block of our site and our vision, mission and values are all in support of these individual contributions. We've tried to use evocative language that is easily understood by folks who aren't yet familiar with AboutUs.org.  Please feel warmly welcomed to help us improve this articulation of WhoWeAre.

Suggestion
Suggestion:

Special consensus building poll on the two Vision Alternatives:

Reason:

A vision should move the hearts of the community members.
A "clear consistent guide" makes Aboutus a mere database, that could be easily topped by other players like Google, who has much more information already at hand, and also a superior technology and manpower to offer such a guide, if they want to do it.

As soon as Google offers such a guide, integrating it into GoogleEarth, then Google is light years ahead of Aboutus and will attract visitors to websites, immediately "before they go to a website", even without the need for a vision. Google only needs to integrate a special filter into their search-engine, say: "site-description".
Besides that, Google delivers also the additional information, if a website "may harm your computer". Such a Google guide with this additional information is much more valuable.

On the other hand, a community that finds in Aboutus an ideal platform for starting collaboration with millions of website companies, organizations and individuals is imho much more inspiring and stimulating, at the same time building on the merits, Aboutus has already accumulated in its business-ethics (as expressed in its values and infrastructure).

* Currently Google uses wiki technology only for their internal staff.
But they easily could wikify and commerce-enable their millions of online notebooks and GoogleApps for CreatingAndSharingWealth to attract all those wikizens, who want to work (and even have food on their table).

* Aboutus is built on wiki culture as an open process.
* Google is not (yet) an open wiki culture.
* Aboutus has currently in his staff the inventor of wiki: WardCunningham and is full of open wiki culture.

If Aboutus doesn't appreciate the work of friendly and constructive wiki community members, integrating them into their vision, it might be possible, Google will find better ways to integrate their collaborative work into GoogleCheck supported community work, that has a real pay-out and consequently an implied brain-drain away from Aboutus.

A mere catalogue "vision" misses the point imho.

* Summary of Websites

Somebody asked the above question and other peers invested time and even money to give answers. An active community member invested even hundreds
of hours for unpaid community work. Here is a chance to demonstrate, how
such work could be honored by compensation via ExtremeOpenBusiness.
These ideas may currently be shocking, as until now most wiki communities are flawed by the Google:StayPoor+Meme. Currently only the staff members have a payout for their work, not
(yet) the active community members.

The Google management has recognized the potential of free floating community intelligence and collaboration and offers numerous incentives to employ millions of people (e.g. to make photographs, covering the earth, or letting them blog with a modest revenue-sharing of the advertisers market.)
Good bye Aboutus, if you don't know to appreciate and attract the free floating intelligence on the globe.

So a built in revenue sharing or other incentives should be part of the identity of Aboutus, to avoid Meatball:GhostTowns in the future.
The author hopes, that this provoking posting in the spirit of BeBold, helps to grow awareness. fridemar 14:55, 3 July 2008 (PDT)

Real Connections, Real Community
People and organizations no sooner start to take you seriously, as when you act with responsibility as a real person. Using your real name, backed up by things like your picture and interests, makes real world interactions in culture, politics and business possible, realistic, effective and useful.

Is a person more likely to join a community online, if they see that there are real people involved?  Are they less likely to participate in an online community with characters like RedDog88, Snivelcritter, etc?

Professionalism, trust, and community all emerge, when real people are involved, standing behind their work.  Using your real name substantiates your commitment to transparency and allows others to better collaborate with you.  It also creates a greater investment in your work.

Using a real name, however, is not a requirement for participation -- look around, get your bearings, and once you come to know the vibrant, trusting community at AboutUs, make the switch.

You'll see many of our community members making posts, edits and suggestion using their real names.  We encourage you to do the same.

Connecting to the Core
RealPeople is central to our mission at AboutUs of connecting people and organizations and it provides a vital component to our Core of values.  The openness of RealPeople requires a trust in the community that arises only when you AssumeGoodFaith.  It is also helps catalyze the communication necessary to creating a consensus, a vital part of the communal work of ItsAboutUs.  Using real names also helps the effort to BeABuilder because it allows community members to recognize each others' accomplishments and reward and recognize each other.

Dear wikizens,
we all can learn from the successful businessman and philantropist WarrenBuffett how to CreateAndShareWealth. Perhaps some time we will even interact with this prominent personality, who easily could give the SocialCommonWealth a headstart.

The WikipediaArticleOnWarrenBuffett contains nuggests of insights, worth to be discussed "in an unobtrusive way" by way of threaded (trailed) annotations. Therefore the author initiated this TrailfireTrail as an open WikiTrail to invite wikizen from different wikis, where we can leave additional contributions, linked from the WikiTrail.

Tagging the net might be the next "killer application", because tags, when handled appropriately, can not only replace some functions of the domain names, but even extend their capabilities.

Here the idea of a SocialCommonWealth was presented the first time in the WebHistory with a shocking WikiPage to create awareness.

Other peers are invited to join this approach.
E.g. they could buy and work on the "regional" domains SocialCommonWealth.eu,  SocialCommonWealth.us,
SocialCommonWealth.cc (suggesting CreativeCommons).
..
There are a lot of adjacing domains to be bought and collaborated on.

By way of SocialSynergy, based on OpenBusinessWiki transactions, this creates wealth for all participating peers.

DiigoTrailfireWikiCollaboration

The initiator of a group at Diigo with this name , which is at the same time a MixedCaseTag , opened this WikiTrail to stimulate collaboration between the two great social annotation communities and diverse wikis.

As this AnnotationEngine is not yet a TagWiki, the author presets all wiki words manually to GoogleSearchLinks.

This FireTrail started in the midst of some discussions on the DiigoGroupForum
The following pseudo-links are made to illustrate, how much work could be taken away from users of annotation systems, if the software itself transformed any WikiWord automatically into a LongTag  or into a GoogleSearch. (Estimated less then 100 LOC Lines of Code)

AllLowerCaseModeForTagsAsOption
:

alllowercasemodefortagsasoption

Hi Soulgrind:

I can feel with you and all the other peers, who are used to work in a relaxed way without the need to bother about the case. As long as Diigo is used for private tagging, why not.
But when subcommunities within the DiiGo sphere want to build SocialCollaboration , they need
precise tags. Think of distributed teams of C++ programmers, who are very sensitive in questions of case.

For non-programmers, please rethink the iPOD (TM) versus iBM (TM) example.

Your example could be used for differentiating tags by TypingShortCuts

Tech=HIghTech
tech=LowTech

In the author's view this is not at all "annoying". It is indeed very convenient.

It takes some carefulness of the SocialTagCommunityUser, but they will
learn the advantage of CaseSensitivity very fast, as soon as they see more examples. On the other hand, as Maggie pointed out, the (private) tags remain editable.

Even the PluralSingularIssue, well known
in the different WikiCommunities, would have a total different importance in TagCommunities.

"game" and "games" could precisely
differentiate between a site, devoted to one game only versus a site,
where more than one game is offered.

MeatballWiki | RecentChanges | Random Page | Indices | Categories

Currently a lot of activities goes behind the scenes to take profit of the giant non-monetary wealth, created in the wiki communities. If the wikizen don't wake up and don't take reponsibilities for themselves, we might see soon trademarks like WikiCommonWealth, created and used by people, not necessarily engaged in intrinsic wiki contributions themselves. Hopefully the author is in error, supposing this. Or what would be even worse, there might be domains registered by wikizen, who have not found the nurturing open wikis, where they can CreateAndShareWealth, straight from the beginning and not by speculations and just "sitting it out". Another pitfall in the view of the author would be the initiation of StayPoor wikis, where only ideas of a Social Common Wealth are discussed, but where the wikizens themselves are only playing the role of zero cost workers.

If you search for Google:CommonWealth and Google:Wiki you get an exorbitant list of hits. Therefore some algorithm might have registered the domain: Google:WikiCommonWealth, because it is on the crossroads, where business promises to prosper. Pursuing the vision of a SocialCommonWealth, the author now registered WikiCommonWealth.info and *.biz to save, what can be be saved for wikizen, who want to collaborate in an Google:OpenBusinessWiki and not as invisible speculators.

--------------------------------

The following quote tracks the first historical note on an OpenBusinessWiki:

"Wiki's are cool. Very easy to use. Very productive asynchronous transparent collaboration. Communites form. Good ones might be useful in designing tools to move large rocks.

An OpenBusinessWiki might assist with realizing the statedgoals of globalization vs. the realitythat corporate megaliths are delivering. Would you ratherhave a $100 pair of Nikes off the shelfassembled by a Chinese peasant or prisoner for $2/hours inthe midst of carcinogens or a $50 pairof custom hand tooled whatevers (boots, berkenstocks, sandals, authentic togs, etc.) with a$50 shipping fee of which Fed Ex contributes 10% directly tothe foundation of your choice?"

The author made it a public Diigo tag "OpenBusinessWiki".

Wasn't it George B. Shaw, who had the courage to formulate "Scarcity of money is the source of all evil"...

After reading the articles

Social Online Collaborating Communities produce a wealth of ideas, information, movies, programs, social relations, etc. but they usually work for free. Sharing of generated wealth is not in their MissionStatement. Counterexamples welcome.

It doesn't need "rocket science" to see, that (future) online communities, who additionally support economic integration, will be more attractive than those, who adhere to the principle: l'art pour l'art.

Some OnlineCommunity, or better CommunityServiceProvider, have in their TOS (TermsOfService) a StayPoor clause. Let's become aware of this suppression mechanism, so that CreatingAndSharingWealth communities can be easier detected and developed.
