# * Self Configuring and Secure Wireless Nets * zogger Thu, 17 Aug 2006 19:19:29 PDT Security # An interesting project being explored by a consortium including DARPA, some universities and major private contractors is to develop a "military grade" secure and self configuring wireless mesh network. They are having to rethink the traditional role of normal routing and addressing, because of the fludiity and speed of change that could occur and the necessity of altering frequenices used for the wireless radio part. Although the project is being developed for the military, they see some of the new tech advances coming out of it eventually geting into the civilian sector. # ...."Marshall says that current technology is “dominated by wireless access, not really wireless networking.” Instead of using access points to connect wireless devices to a wired network, a Knowledge Based Network would be a decentralized MANET."...more cammienets there
