Free60 is a project towards porting GNU/Linux, BSD, Darwin and related open-source operating systems to the Xbox 360. The current status of this project is outlined, and anyone with a good idea can join in. The community portal can be accessed to give an idea of the progress.

This is a paper by the most famous Xbox hacker. A secret boot block overlay camouflaged by a decoy in the external ROM, is buried within a system ASIC. This decrypts and verifies portions of an external FLASH-type ROM. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving the Xbox security system.
