San Bushmen (remember the movie: The Gods Must Be Crazy) who lives in Kalahari Desert of Africa has been eating it for thousand of years. They have been living off the land in southern Africa for more than 100,000 years. It's believe that Hoodia Gordonii has help them withstanding hunger and thirst while hunting for days in the dessert.
