Rainer Schoenfelder, the gregarious member of the Austrian team (see photos), finished fourth in the combined at the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. He earned his first major competition medal at the 2005 World Championships, where he took silver in the slalom. He was the 1996 junior world champion in giant slalom and the silver medalist that year in slalom. At the Torino Games, he took two bronze medals -- first in the combined, then in the slalom.
