Reciprocal teaching was originally developed to enhance reading comprehension in English language learners. Since the model's development, though, teachers and researchers have found other benefits of using this reading strategy. Reciprocal teaching can be used in different subject areas, including science and math, and has proven especially helpful to low-achieving and ESL students.
