If you did follow one of the links above and are now booting into a blue screen that says "STOP: C0000139 GDI32.dll" do the following:

Boot from the Windows XP install disk and press 'R' to use the repair function when prompted.

Then enter these commands:

>REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\GDI32.DLL GDI32.DLL.OLD

then

>COPY C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\I386\GDI32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\GDI32.DLL

>EXIT

Then cross your fingers while it reboots.

Replacing those files can also be down by booting into another OS or a Linux Live cd.

I had the same problem, with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 computer from HP.

After installing Windows XP SP3 using the RELEASE version of SP3, my computer failed to boot with stop code 0x0000007E.

I was able to reboot in Safe mode. I tried removing some drivers (based on other Microsoft KBs) with no success. Then I found this thread.

Setting the value of Start to be 4 in the following key worked for me as well:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\intelppm

It's hard to believe this problem was found and documented in the release candidates, yet still exists in the actual release production version.

Notepad from MS is essential for the system, but sometimes i prefer Notepad2 for editing files.

So in XP exist an easy to use commandline-tool called FTYPE.

Now i use this tool to associate some filetypes with Notepad2.

uTorrent was very slow for me until recently I applied a few tweaks. Here’s what I did.

Note: Some of the settings mentioned below are optimized for 256k connection. If you want to calculate the optimal settings for your connection, check at the end of this tutorial. But I suggest you to read the entire tutorial for guidance on other settings.

If your system partition or system drive is encrypted using TrueCrypt, you need to enter your pre-boot authentication password in the TrueCrypt Boot Loader screen after you turn on or restart your computer. It may happen that you are forced by somebody to decrypt the operating system or to reveal the pre-boot authentication password. There are many situations where you cannot refuse to do so (for example, due to extortion). TrueCrypt allows you to create a hidden operating system whose existence will be impossible to prove (provided that certain guidelines are followed — see below). Thus, you will not have to decrypt or reveal the password for the hidden operating system.

Before you continue reading this section, make sure you have read the section Hidden Volume and that you understand what a hidden TrueCrypt volume is.

A hidden operating system is a system (for example, Windows Vista or Windows XP) that is installed in a hidden TrueCrypt volume. It is impossible to prove that a hidden TrueCrypt volume exists (provided that certain guidelines are followed; for more information, see the section Hidden Volume) and, therefore, it is impossible to prove that a hidden operating system exists.

However, in order to boot a system encrypted by TrueCrypt, an unencrypted copy of the TrueCrypt Boot Loader has to be stored on the system drive or on a TrueCrypt Rescue Disk. Hence, the mere presence of the TrueCrypt Boot Loader can indicate that there is a system encrypted by TrueCrypt on the computer. Therefore, to provide a plausible explanation for the presence of the TrueCrypt Boot Loader, the TrueCrypt wizard creates a second encrypted operating system, so-called decoy operating system, during the process of creation of a hidden operating system. A decoy operating system must not contain any sensitive files. Its existence is not secret (it is not installed in a hidden volume). The password for the decoy operating system can be safely revealed to anyone forcing you to disclose your pre-boot authentication password.*

You should use the decoy operating system as frequently as you use your computer. Ideally, you should use it for all activities that do not involve sensitive data. Otherwise, plausible deniability of the hidden operating system might be adversely affected (if you revealed the password for the decoy operating system to an adversary, he could find out that the system is not used very often, which might indicate the existence of a hidden operating system on your computer). Note that you can save data to the decoy system partition anytime without any risk that the hidden volume will get damaged (because the decoy system is not installed in the outer volume — see below).

There will be two pre-boot authentication passwords — one for the hidden system and the other for the decoy system. If you want to start the hidden system, you simply enter the password for the hidden system in the TrueCrypt Boot Loader screen (which appears after you turn on or restart your computer). Likewise, if you want to start the decoy system (for example, when asked to do so by an adversary), you just enter the password for the decoy system in the TrueCrypt Boot Loader screen.

Session cookies are often used for authenticating the user to a website. Session cookies are temporary cookies that only persist for the lifetime of your browsing session. When you log in to a website, they usually give you a session cookie that contains a unique token that identifies you while you are logged in. As you navigate around the website, Internet Explorer sends your session cookie to the site, and the site can examine this token and determine that you are authenticated. Unlike persistent cookies, they are not written and retained on your hard disk.

In Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, we recover your session cookies too, and still do not write them to disk! Internet Explorer stores copies of your session cookies in the frame process. When your tab crashes, Internet Explorer just copies them back from the frame into the tab, and the user is automatically logged back into the site they were using (Web-based e-mail, blog sites, social networking sites, etc.).

Note that session cookie recovery only takes place for tab crashes. If the whole browser crashes, the session cookies are lost; however, we do expect that the overwhelming majority of crashes will be isolated to the tabs as most crashes are caused by malfunctioning add-ons, which are now isolated to a tab process.

In order to delete your profile, you must be logged in with an account which has administrative privileges which is also not yours. Once you are logged in, open the user profiles list. We were a bit thrown off by the fact that ClearCase doesn’t readily provide  diff files that span multiple files. We have all been used to reviewing CVS diff files which do so. People here had to come up with their own scripts to remedy this issue. Here’s what I’ve been using so far:

cleartool lsco -cvi -r -s | xargs -n1 cleartool diff -pred -ser |
    egrep -v "^(Files|Directories) are identical"

This Unix shell command will generate the diff output (which you can redirect to a file) recursively (-r) for all files that are checked out within the current directory, on the current view (-cvi).

The output is not exactly a unified diff file (I believe that it can’t be directly used with the  patch command) but it still is a human-readable diff that spans multiple files.

The reason that I use -serial_format (-ser) and not -diff_format is that -diff_format suppresses the file headers and obviously a “unified diff” file doesn’t make sense when you don’t know where each individual file starts and ends.

Instance Name. It is the name of the memory structures + Background process (MEM + BGP) use to mount/open a database. In a RAC environment there are more than one instance opening the same database, and each instance has a different name. On a single instance (non rac) environments, the instance name and the database name are named (generallly) the same. There is no reason to name the instance and the database differently.
Instance name is defined by the ORACLE_SID environment variable (unix) and by the windows service name (windows).
In a connect string this can be used to establish connection to a database, however this is valid for pre-8i versions (8.0 compatible) and even though it can work with 10g databases, it is not a good practice as it reduces the functionality provided since 8i.

Service Name. This is a way to identify a target instance to get connected to. It is defined by the dynamic instance parameter service_names, note the names word, it is plural, that is because an oracle instance can have several service names. The concept service is more frequently used in a single instance to refer to an instance with several alias. In a RAC environment it is used to balance power, create failed over / stand by instances and it is used in combination with resource manager.

在刷BIOS之前的话：
如果不太懂的话，最好不要刷BIOS，万一刷坏了，你的板子就报废了，只能返厂修复。还有可能被说是人工损坏，不给予赔偿。现在出现了软件模拟OEM，实现软刷BIOS，也可以激活WIN7。这类软件很多，比如Windows Loder等等。远景很多，大家可以自己搜索一下。

事先准备工具：

2. 你自己主板的BIOS程序（可以去自己主板官方网站下载）
3. SLIC 2.1 和 SLP
4. 对应OEM版本的OEM证书

For example, let's say that I can't gain access to a server using Terminal Services because both sessions are used up.  I can use another server to check the status of the first one.  As long as the logged in user has administrative rights on the non-accessible machine I would run this:

Now I know that Bob and Jane are the two that are logged in.  Since Jane left the office 20 minutes ago I know that she forgot to log off.  I don't know where Bob is but I only need one session so I'll ignore him for now.

To disconnect Jane's session I would type this:

rwinsta /server:12.12.12.12 3

Notice the 3 which is the session ID I found from using qwinsta above.

Yet another option with W2K3 is a new feature that lets you connect to the desktop directly and gain a 3rd session. 

If you're like me, you probably noticed that rwinsta and qwinsta seems like strange names.  This came from the Citrix Metaframe days which Terminal Services has descended from.  It stands for:

qwinsta = Query WINdows STAtion
rwinsta = Reset WINdows STAtion

One final comment.  Microsoft has replaced these two tools with Query but since qwinsta and rwinsta is fully compatible with W2K WinXP and W2K3 I choose to use it instead.

Note: In Windows Server 2003, you can right-click on the root in Terminal Services Manager and Connect to another server.  Also, if you are in an Active Directory domain and using Windows 2000 Server, you can Connect to All Servers and access remote servers from the GUI.  But, in a Windows 2000 Server not connected to a domain, you run into the limitations that prompted this blog.

Not sure what the business model is, which is why I wouldn’t trust it with any personal or private information and restrict it to just movie watching or poll rigging. Best free VPN service and super easy to install (see review here)

Feeedur - www.freedur.com – A commercial VPN/anonymizing service that works well.

HotSpotShield – hotspotshield.com – Another free VPN service, but forces you to click on an ad. Working with Hulu again.

UltraVPN – www.ultravpn.fr – cross platform (OS X support). Both free and anonymous.

In addition to what you've mentioned, I also use JAP http://anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/index_en.html . I generally found it to give me more bandwidth than Tor. but it record IP address
