K-Meleon is extremely fast, highly customizable, relatively compact and runs on 32-bit Windows platforms. It is based on the Gecko layout engine, the same rendering engine used for Mozilla browser derivatives such as Netscape and Firefox, and runs completely independently of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. K-Meleon is free, open source software released under the GNU General Public License. K-Meleon and further resources can be downloaded from the K-Meleon project at SourceForge.

Gnumeric and its source code are available free of charge, licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. This makes it easy to audit, and make custom extensions. For a comprehensive list of features, go here. Gnumeric will import your existing Microsoft Excel files. Import filters also exist for Lotus 1-2-3, Applix, Sylk, XBase, Open Office, Quattro Pro, Dif, Plan Perfect, and Oleo files, but these import filters are less complete. If you have knowledge of these file formats or have access to the underlying program, maybe you can help.

I used Wubi to install Ubuntu Linux on a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. It worked like a charm. All you have to do is download the installer and run it, then follow the setup wizard, and presto, you now have Ubuntu Linux dual-booting with Win Xp. If you have been wanting to try Linux, but hesitating because of the setup hassle, this is your best option. And you don't have to give up your Windows install either!
