伦敦大学(UCL)生物医学中心正在对一种名为“ITAP”的假肢连接技术进行试验。一般安装义肢的办法是把一个金属连接植入受损的骨骼中，并通过这个连接使受损骨骼与义肢相连。但是，这个金属连接必须穿破皮肤，很容易使那部分皮肤受到感染。ITAP技术的应用能使皮肤紧紧包裹住该连接，从而免受感染。
