Daniel Pearl recognized the ability of music to bridge differences among people. In the spirit of Danny's love of music and commitment to dialogue, the Daniel Pearl Foundation launched the first Daniel Pearl World Music Days on October 10, 2002, which would have been Danny's 39th birthday.

Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, kidnapped on his way to interview a Muslim fundamentalist leader in Pakistan, has been killed by his abductors. The U.S. government condemned his killing as "an outrage" and his newspaper called it an "act of barbarism."
