There are a multitude of different theories on the mind. Many more than have been discussed in this document. However, of all the ones I have seen before, I feel that this one offers the greatest hope of coming up with a real, working understanding of the science and neurobiology of how the mind works and what consciousness really is.

One usage describes the theory that human intelligence and consciousness can be explained by Darwinian selection and evolution of neural states. The other usage describes an observed physical process in neurodevelopment where used synapses are strengthened while unused connections weaken and are eventually 'pruned' to form efficient neural

Burgeoning advancements in brain science are opening up new perspectives on how we acquire knowledge. Indeed, it is now possible to explore consciousness—the very center of human concern—by scientific means.
